The Papámashryam are the six who go about caring for the world. They live in the ocean. If one of them sees a person on shore, he may beckon to him with his hand. If so, that person will die the next day, or very soon. People used to avoid looking into the sea, lest they might see one of these beckon. A Shaman could sing all night and thus cure the person who was to die. |
