Prickly Pear Cactus | |||
The Prickly Pear Cactus grows in the Mojave Desert. Its very different than other cacti because it has large flat pads and bright colored flowers!
The Serrano Indians ate the red fruits of the prickly pear cactus. These sweet fruits can be eaten raw if the prickly spines are removed. The flat cactus pads were also used by the Serrano for dressing wounds. |
