Preservation
Native Americans Protecting Each Other's Heritage
Faye Roman & Jessie Bennett

Grinding Stone Rock

The concern for Cultural preservation of Native American artifacts and historic sites is of concern to many people. In the Big Bear area there are two women whose diligence has been greatly appreciated by the Serrano people. Faye Roman and Jessie Bennett are viqilant in their efforts to preserve all Native American sites and artifacts. Neither of these women are of local Native American heritage, but they keep a protective eye on the Big Bear area and alert the proper tribal and Department of Forestry authorities when they feel it is necessary.
It is the care and concern of people like this that will help to preserve what is left of our local Native American culture.
